One thing I’ve noticed about a lot of the younger girls is that they have been finding themselves to be insecure.
When I first started high school 4 years ago, I was insecure, pretty much about everything. But mostly about what I was wearing. At that time my way around it was to dress in the most outrageous outfits that I could come up with, and now looking back at the picture it was pretty scary. Throughout the years I’ve tried to fit into all the different styles there where, from Punk rock, preppy, all the way to the seance style. But no matter what I did, none of them made me feel any better. Then my senior year I just kinda fell into my own. I started to wear only what made me feel more comfortable, and with that I was able to show the true me on the outside.
I don’t want anyone to have to wait as long as I did to get over my insecurity. Mind you I’m still full of them, but its one less then I had yesterday. So here’s some advice.
1. Stay comfortable:
It’s the most important thing when getting dressed. Make sure what ever your putting on is something that you feel comfortable in. remember your insecurity can’t be seen from the outside, but your comfort can. Show that and no one can tell the difference.
2. Tryout different trends:
Try different clothes. Go out to a store and just try on outfits that you find yourself being attracted to. It’ll help you see what styles look good on you, and what you feel comfortable in without having to spend money. And who knows, when putting on one outfit you might just find one that you love!
3. Don’t mind others:
If ever going out with friends, never look to see what they’re wearing. When getting dressed its always about you. Wear what you want, don’t try to fit into them.
4. Keep your head held high:
You can be having the shiest day in the world, and don’t be afraid to show it. Wear the clothes that make you feel the best in, even if its only sweatpants, or one of your dads old t-shirts. If it makes you feel a little bit better wear it. Because when people look at you, they won’t even care about what your wearing, they’ll only notice that smile on your face, or the pep in your step.
I’m happy that schools almost over. It’s been taking up most if not all of my time. With school being over I will so be able to get back to recording my outfits daily. And I hope that when that starts coming around you all enjoy it!.
